Interpreting the Dream: The Story
Behind The Peony Pavilion
Members of the cast, including the director,
Chen Shi-Zheng and, scholars explore the world of theatre
in sixteenth century. Topics include the creation of and controversy
around this epic production of The Peony Pavilion, cultural life
during the Ming Dynasty, and how traditional Chinese theatre is
being re-imagined for the 21st century. This half-day symposium
offers a behind-the-scenes look at the staging of this masterpiece.
